About the Trust

The Trust and Its Vision

The DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation is a public-private partnership chartered by the District to help a wide variety of organizations improve the quality, quantity and accessibility of services and opportunities for every child in the city. Our vision is that each child in the District of Columbia is given every opportunity to develop and grow into a healthy, caring and productive adult.

Our Mission:

To increase resources and invest in the people, programs and systems that serve children, youth and their families in the District of Columbia.
To support the development of strategic alliances to strengthen the quality, quantity and accessibility of services and opportunities that foster the healthy development of children and youth.
To create an evaluation framework designed to measure the effectiveness of individual programs and youth-serving agencies throughout the District of Columbia.

Our History

The Trust was incorporated as an independent non-profit in June 1999 after a group of concerned stakeholders determined to improve the approach taken to providing services to children and youth in the District. Out of this year-long convening of young people, parents, caregivers, service providers, community leaders, school officials, corporate partners, foundations and federal and District government officials, the ideal for a new entity was born.
