Ellen London, President and CEO

Ellen London has worked with the DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation since 2000, shortly after its creation. Through her decade of experience at the Trust, she brings extensive knowledge of the Trust’s initiatives, partnerships and operations.

London previously served as vice president

of communications and community engagement at the Trust. During her tenure, London has played an integral role in developing and implementing programs such as The Wallace Foundation-funded Project My Time, DC Summer Fun and numerous citywide summer strategy sessions. She has developed partnerships

both within the District and nationally and has built the Trust’s reputation as the District’s leading resource for out-of-school time programs and youth development.

Since November 2009, London served as the Trust’s interim president and CEO, helping the Trust provide $17 million in public and private funds to more than 150 community-based organizations. These efforts have given children and youth the opportunity to connect to meaningful, quality programs after school and during the summer.

Prior to joining the Trust, London served as vice president of community service and vice president of administration at Volunteers of America, Bay Area, where she helped to re-integrate the organization into the community, and oversaw diverse programs, such as a women’s homeless shelter, a day laborer program, and a computer learning center.  She is a graduate of the University of Richmond and the Boston Conservatory of Music.

Message from the President and CEO

I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue working with the DC Children and Youth Investment Trust as president and CEO. For more than a decade, I have worked with the Trust to improve resources, services and opportunities for children and youth in the District. Our efforts have yielded impressive results and have engaged children, youth and families in meaningful ways.

To help the Trust realize its mission, I plan to continue building partnerships and alliances with community-based organizations to strengthen the quantity, quality, and accessibility of services in DC that will help to ensure that young people reach their full potential.

I believe that only through these partnerships can we lay the foundation for a better future for children in the District.

Ellen London
