Family Literacy Lifelong Learning Coaches The Lifelong Learning Coaches (LLCs) are a key component in the development and delivery of a city-wide literacy system. They provide leadership in grassroots environments serving as a professional resource to DC governmental agencies and community-based organizations (CBOs) through the collection and sharing of current research, best practices, and other data. The LLCs provide adult basic education (ABE), GED classes, and English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction. The LLCs also train CBO staff to provide these services within their program and, in many sites, assist with program management. LLCs participate in monthly professional development and training activities. Across the District, the LLCs participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of city-wide adult and family literacy curricula and training initiatives.
