School-Year & Summer Programs

The Trust is dedicated to making high-quality programs available to youth across the District. As part of this work, the Trust provides grants for school-year and summer programs in two separate cycles.

Since 1999, the Trust has granted $110 million to more than 250 organizations for the provision of out-of-school time programs, youth entrepreneurship programs, youth-leadership programs, summer camps, parent centers, adult literacy programs and lifelong learning coaches and charter school capital improvements. These programs have reached 90,000 children, youth and parents. The Trust has raised and leveraged more than $170 million in public and private funds to support this work.

The Trust’s grant-making is designed to strategically support the development of the District’s children and youth. The Trust releases periodic Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for targeted grant-making initiatives and does not accept applications for funding outside of the RFP process. In general, the Trust requests proposals for year-round and summer programs each year. Other RFPs are issued when opportunities and initiatives are presented to the Trust.
